This theme was a bit harder to uncover since it was only predominant in one main character through the second half of the book. Bing hints at his sexuality when he seemed to be more interested in wearing lipstick and blush over a beard made of makeup. When we truly learn his sexuality is when his chapter starts on page 113. He was always thinking about this boy and luckily he ended up kissing him. Bing even said he was hard under his snow pants. Near the end of the novel, Bing gains the courage and shows his classmates his true colours when he sings a Whitney Houston song and reveals a pink bedazzled shirt. A side character also talks about his sexual preferences, Clive. His were much more in detail since he's found himself and he's older. He enjoyed threesomes with other gay couples that he meets off of Craigslist. But to his family, he was just a regular straight guy. It's 2018 and we learn more about LGBT and sexualities everyday, so it was a good choice for the author to include this theme in Scarborough.
